Petrol or Diesel?

First decision – petrol or diesel? The X-TRAIL’s 2.5 litre petrol engine pushes out a very impressive 125kW of power and 226Nm of torque. How much power and torque is that? Well, it gives the X-TRAIL a braked towing capacity of 2,000kg – more than enough to take that jet-ski down to the beach or that couch over to your brother-in-law’s. The petrol engine is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or the incredibly smooth automatic Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with 6-speed M-Mode.
The 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine is no slouch either. It features a variable nozzle turbo charger that helps deliver more power and lower emissions, giving you 127kW of power and 360Nm of torque on the manual model. Your transmission choice is a 6-speed manual or 6-speed auto with M-Mode. They both offer excellent fuel economy – 7.5 litres per 100km for the manual and 8.1 litres per 100km for the auto.
So whether you choose petrol or diesel the Nissan X-TRAIL has the grunt you need to get you wherever you want to go and, more importantly, back again.
All Mode 4x4-i Technology
The ALL-MODE 4x4-i dial allows you to choose between '2WD', 'AUTO' (fully automatic 4WD) or 'LOCK' mode depending on driving conditions. The Mode control dial is conveniently situated behind the gear lever on the centre console. When in 'AUTO' mode, the system utilises predictive sensors to analyse the terrain as you drive, providing precisely the right amount of torque to each wheel. The inclusion of sensors monitor side, front and rear G-force, yaw rates and steering angles for improved stability in varied driving conditions.
